2013 Conference Carolinas Track and Field Championships

The Arthur, Lauritsen and Sanders Track and Field Complex is located on the campus of Lees-McRae College behind Williams Gymnasium. Parking is available in front of Williams Gymnasium, which is located on Hickory Nut Gap Road. Lodging is available at the Best Western, located less than a mile from the track on Tyncastle Highway, on a first-come, first-serve basis at a rate of $69 per night.
Teams wishing to order lunch from the Subway located in the Food Lion shopping center may do so using this form.
To enter the meet please go to the www.directathletics.com. Entries will close on Tuesday April 16th at 12:00 AM. Only verified times and marks off of the TFRRS Conference Carolinas list will be accepted any other times or marks entered will be thrown out and entered as no time or no mark. You are only allowed 5 entries per school.
Schedule and Check-In
The meet schedule can be found here. All entries for track events are required to check in at the clerk tent adjacent to the starting line one hour prior to their event under penalty of disqualification. Check in for field events will take place at each event site. Weigh in for hammer and javelin implements will take place on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Weigh in for discus and shot put will take place on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m.
The maximum spike length allowed will be 1/4”; pin spikes are not permitted. Competition shoes will be checked prior to each event. Starting blocks will be provided for all track events. Weigh in for the hammer throw and javelin will take place on Friday at 1:30 p.m., and at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday for the shot put and discus throw. Adjacent practice soccer fields will be available for warm-up purposes. The track will not be available for warm-up.
The 100-, 200-, and 400-meter dashes, as well as the 100-, 110-, and 400-meter hurdles will each consist of preliminary timed heats followed by finals. Heat winners in each heat will automatically qualify for the finals. The remaining finalists will be choosen according to fastest times, with the total number of finalists not exceeding eight competitors.
The 800- and 1,500-meter runs will consist of preliminary heats followed by finals:
- If two heats: top four in each heat advancing to the finals, followed by the next four fastest times to equal a total of 12 competitors in the final.
- If three heats: top three in each heat advancing to the finals, followed by the next three fastest times to equal a total of 12 competitors in the final.
- If four heats: top two in each heat advancing to the finals, followed by the next four fastest times to equal a total of 12 competitors in the final.
Each field event will consist of preliminary flights, with each participant receiving three throws or three jumps. The top eight qualify for the finals, and receive three throws or jumps each in the next round.
The 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000-meter run, and 10,000-meter run will be run as a final with heats on time.
Scoring for the meet will be done according to the NCAA regulations for a six-team event, with scores of 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 being awarded for each event. Schools not sponsoring track and field will not count in the event’s scoring or awards, and will not be included in the fast heats.
The track will be closed at all times for warm-ups, except athletes competing in current field events. Coaches boxes will be set up for coaches to stand and coach from. If a coach does not have a field event in progress, they are not to be on the field.
The clerk tent will be located adjacent to the starting line. Athletes must check-in one hour prior to each event.
