LMC Track & Field Concludes Action at Winthrop Invitational

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Lees-McRae senior duo Persephanie McRae and Kortnie Curry tied for eighth in the women’s high jump, highlighting LMC’s weekend at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.

Coach Ley Fletcher played his cards safely while the weather left the track soaked and in less-than-satisfactory conditions.

McRae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) continued her impressive senior slate while Curry (Lexington, N.C.) cleared 1.50 meters in the women’s high jump to claim a tie for eighth place in a Division I-heavy field.

Freshmen Colby Shell (Ferguson, N.C.) and Brenden Sherrill (Conover, N.C.) earned top-15 finishes in the men’s 5,000-meter run while Shell swiped 13th with a time of 17:16.48. Sherrill earned 14th while finishing just a tick over two seconds behind Shell with a time of 17:18.54.

The Bobcats travel to High Point, N.C. to participate in the High Point Invitational starting on Friday, April 4.
