Tennis Team Hit the Road for a Pair of CVAC Contests

The Lees-McRae College men's and women's tennis teams will travel to Mount Olive College and Barton College for a pair of Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference match ups this weekend.

The Bobcats will travel to Mt. Olive College this Saturday, February 17 for their match-up against the Trojans. Match play begins at 3pm at the Walker Tennis Center, and admission to all matches is free.

The LMC Men's team comes into this Saturday's match off a strong win against Milligan College last weekend. Confident after their victory, the Bobcats match-up against the 38th ITA Ranked Trojans should prove to be exciting. The continually strong play of Alek Mojski, Sean Sumner and Rick Velazquez will be put up against the experience of Juniors Guilherme Serra, Indradeep Mitra, and Vitor Lage of Mt. Olive. Both the LMC Bobcats and the Trojans will come into play looking to improve their records of 1-1.

The Lady Bobcats will also be facing the Trojans this Saturday, same time same place. Coming off a tough loss to the Division I Appalachian State Mountaineers in their season opener, the LMC ladies are looking for a better start to their CVAC Conference season. Ranked 3rd in the CVAC Preseason Women's Tennis pole, the Lady Trojans will enter play on Saturday with the Women's Doubles CVAC Individuals Championship title and an impressive pre-season. The Bobcats are looking to improve on their 0-1 record while the Trojans hope to continue where they left off in the pre-season.

After their match-up with Mount Olive College on Saturday, the LMC Tennis Teams will travel to Wilson, NC to compete against the Barton College Bulldogs on Sunday, February 18. Play will begin at 11 AM at the Bulldog Tennis Complex and admission to all matches is free.

The Bobcat Men's team will face strong competition against the #29 Division II Nationally Ranked Barton team. The Bulldogs opened their season with a strong win over #14 Francis-Marion, and are set to compete with Anderson College on Saturday. The Bobcats will also be coming off a strong win over Milligan College, and hopefully a second victory on Saturday against Mt. Olive College. While Barton College boasts a consistently strong tennis program, the Bobcats hold the beginnings of a strong rebuilding year with solid play in both the fall pre-season and this season. With much at stake for both teams, Sunday's match-up will undoubtedly prove an exciting one.

The LMC Women's team will travel to Wilson, NC to compete on Sunday (2/18) against the Barton Lady Bulldogs. The Bobcats will be facing Barton after their loss to Appalachian State in their season opener, but will hopefully go into the match with a win from their match against Mt. Olive College scheduled for Saturday. Barton College, a consistently strong program with 7 returning players, poses a tough match to the young Lady Bobcats team in this rebuilding year. Both teams are looking to improve their 0-1 record this weekend.
