Lees-McRae Athletics Gives Back on Mountain Day

BANNER ELK, N.C. - Athletic teams take part in Lees-McRae's Mountain Day with community service projects across campus and the Banner Elk community.

Teams did projects ranging, from improving Williams Gymnasium, the on campus tennis courts and cleaning up the cycling trails to paints signs on campus, assisting in the cleaning of the Peace Garden and even venturing out to Sugar Mountain's Golf Course to help prepare the course for the busy season.

Men's Lacrosse - Peace Garden cleanup

Men's and Women's Tennis - Painted deck at the Alumni House, Cleaned around the pool and equipment shed and packed shoe boxes for underprivileged kids at Shelter Rock

Men's Soccer - Cleared trails for hikers and bikers on Beech Mountain

Men's Basketball - Sugar Mountain Golf Course season preparation

Men's and Women's Track - Picked up and prepared the track for spring and summer walkers and runners and cleaned up the track equipment shed

CAT Club (Club of Athletic Training) - cleaned and repaired the Bobcat trail from the Mill Pond to the gym and picked up trash behind the Village Residence Halls

Women's Basketball - Painted the front and side entrance to Williams Gymnasium

Women's Soccer - Walked along Elk River and removed trash from the water and banks
