BANNER ELK, N.C. --- In the latest installment of Minute with Mac, Lees-McRae College Director of Athletics Craig McPhail sits down with three members of the 2011 senior class to talk about what their experience at Lees-McRae has meant to them.
Seniors Dane Garvik, Martha Peacock, and Travis VanHoy have had a tremendous impact on the College and the athletic department over the past four, or in Dane's case, five years. Garvik has taken full advantage of his time in Banner Elk, volunteering as a fire fighter and running his own business in his spare time, in addition to riding with the Bobcat cycling team. Peacock, while not wearing the Green and Gold as a two-sport athlete with the women's soccer and women's lacrosse programs, has also made significant contributions to the Student Government Association. VanHoy has grown into a tremendous individual over the past four years, embracing the family atmosphere of the College and the tennis program, while donating his time through tennis lessons with the local community.
