BANNER ELK, N.C. --- On this week's episode of Minute with Mac, Lees-McRae College Director of Athletics Craig McPhail tries his hand (or foot) at the Lees-McRae Crossbar Challenge, the Bobcats' spin-off of the popular competition on British television show Soccer Am.
The Bobcats kick off the 2011 season on Thursday, opening the campaign against No. 19 University of Montevallo in the first match of the second annual Michael Shope Memorial Tournament. The tournament honors former Bobcat men's soccer player Michael Shope, who passed away in a tragic boating accident on March 16, 2006 off the North Carolina coast. Lees-McRae will take on Montevallo on Thursday at 6 p.m. on Tate Field, before squaring off against No. 22 Flagler College on Saturday at 3 p.m. Head coach Lee Squires and the Bobcat soccer family will honor the Shope family prior to kickoff on Saturday.
