NEW ORLEANS, La. --- Lees-McRae placed four
student-athletes on the Division II Indoor Track & Field
Southeast All-Region squad for their outstanding performances
during the season, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country
Coaches Association announced.
The top five individuals in each event from each region earned
the All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of
the regions’ top three relay teams. The regions used for this
award match those used during the cross country season.
Men’s All-Region awards went to 536 different
student-athletes, who combined for 770 total awards.
Senior Evan Webb (Salisbury, N.C.) climbed garnered his award
when he cleared 4.80 meters at the George Mason Last Chance Meet
The women saw 525 separate competitors accumulate 776 total
honors. Both Samantha Elliot of Johnson C. Smith and Stephanie
Rhoden of Benedict topped the list with five All-Region awards
Freshman Erin Bingham (Jefferson, N.C.) capped off a remarkable
first-year campaign by making the squad after completing the
60-meter hurdles in 9.25 seconds at the Conference Carolinas Indoor
Track & Field Championships February 23.
Seniors Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) and Persephanie Mcrae
(Brooklyn, N.Y.) cleared 1.60 meters in the high jump at the CC
Championships February 23 to claim honors. Mcrae and Curry finished
first and second, respectively, at the Championship.
All four student- athletes will return to action March 22 at the
Power Sox Invitational in Hickory, N.C. to open the outdoor
