Sebastian Wild enters his third year as the head coach of the Lady Bobcats. Before being promoted to the Head Coaching position in June of 2006, the native of Rostock, Germany served as an assistant on the Bobcat bench from 2004.
In his first two years Coach Wild guided the program to an 18-38 record with 15 of the wins coming in Conference Carolina competition including a win against national ranked (#25) Anderson University at Anderson which snapped the Lady Trojans 27 home game winning streak.
At age 29, Wild can already look back onto 12 years of coaching experience, eight of them as a head coach in his home country of Germany, where he is considered to be one of the top developmental teachers of the game. Wild had won numerous state championships on the youth level prior to his appointment as the head coach of the State All-Star team in 2000. Wild led his home state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to its best record ever at the annual national tournament taking eighth place.
In 2001 Wild joined a semi–professional club program where his coaching strategies and experience showed immediate dividends as the squad finished 22–0 in his first year. In the following years the team became one of the top programs in the region, as Wild compiled a cumulative record of 48–18 over three seasons, continuing to establish himself as one of the top coaches in the country. Coach Wild is still very actively involved with the game in his home country, running multiple clinics and camps every summer.
Coach Wild joined the Lady Bobcat coaching staff in 2004 and made significant contributions to the success of the program by providing his knowledge of international basketball. This season Wild and his staff will look to take another significant step towards achieving their goal of establishing the Lady Bobcat Basketball program into one of the strongest in the region within the years to come. Wild gathered a promising recruiting class that is expected to lift the Lady Bobcat Basketball program to new heights and build the foundations for a successful future by achieving excellence on–and off the court.
