BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College cycling program announced the signing of Zachary Ross (Cincinnati, Ohio) for the 2017-18 season. Ross joins a group of 10 signees for LMC Head Coach Tim Hall who are set to join the program this fall.
"Zachary comes to us with a lot of potential as a well-rounded cyclist," Hall said of Ross. "He not only has the size and strength to be competitive, but also possesses the mindset to achieve success in cycling. The Cincinnati area has a rich racing culture, and he's gained a lot of valuable experience there racing in the Ohio Valley Cyclocross series. The level of competition he has faced has been good preparation for collegiate, and we believe he will be a solid contributor to our elite A team one day."
Ross has recorded top 10 finishes at Bloomington OVCX, Valley View OVCX, and Brookside OVCX in his prep career.
"I chose Lees-McRae College because I think the small class sizes are a good fit for my personality and will allow me to succeed academically," said Ross. "I enjoy the outdoors and Banner Elk is the perfect place to live and maintain an active lifestyle. It has been a long-time dream to race at the collegiate level, and being on the LMC cycling team will allow me to pursue this goal while progressing as an athlete."
Ross intends to enroll in the business administration program at Lees-McRae when he steps foot on campus this fall.
