Nationally Ranked Bulldogs Put Bite on Bobcats

Mark Friscone netted a career-high 23 points and pulled a game-high seven rebounds Saturday night to lead the host Barton College Bulldogs to a 94-66 victory over the Lees-McRae College Bobcats in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference play. The Bulldogs, ranked 12th in the nation, improve to 5-1 (3-0 CVAC), while the Bobcats' record now stands even at 3-3 (2-1 CVAC).

Barton bolted to a 48-23 lead at halftime lead and never looked back, utilizing their full bench. The Bulldogs scorched the nets for 57.6 percent accuracy and claimed a 30-28 edge in rebounding. Lees-McRae shot 46.3 percent from the floor.

Friscone connected on 10-of-15 shots, including two 3-pointers, in just 20 minutes of action. Bobby Buffaloe chipped in 22 points for the host Bulldogs while Brian Leggett Anthony Atkinson notched 10 points apiece. Atkinson also dished off nine assists.

Aaron Dugger, (pictured top left), paced the Bobcats with 15 points while DJ Menifee and Henry Williams contributed 11 and 10 a piece.

The Bobcats played their second consecutive game against a nationally ranked opponent, after defeating 19th ranked Mount Olive College. The schedule does not get any easier for the Bobcats as the next two games will be against Division I competition. The Bobcats travel to Division I Virginia Military Institute Wednesday evening for a 7:00pm tip off to close out 2006 before opening 2007 with Division I High Point University.
