Bulldogs Too Much For Bobcats

The Lees-McRae College Bobcats hosted Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference leader Barton College Saturday afternoon, falling 82-58 at Williams Gymnasium. The Bobcats fall to 4-14, (3-9 CVAC) while the Bulldogs sit comfortably atop the CVAC with a 15-5 record, 13-1 in conference play.

The Bulldogs dominated the game from start to finish, holding the Bobcats without a field goal until the 13:01 mark of the first. Stephen Haymer and Aaron Dugger put the Bobcats on the board with free throws; however the Bulldogs had already established a 13 point cushion that would not be relinquished. The Bulldogs coasted into half time with a 16 point lead, 39-23.

Barton continued its offensive onslaught, extending their lead to 20 three minutes into the second and never looking back. The Bulldogs would maintain no less than a 19 point advantage through the remainder of the game, dictating the pace and tempo throughout.

Mark Friscone would lead the attack for the Bulldogs with a game high 20 points while Anthony Atkinson and Bobby Buffaloe chipped in 18 and 17 respectively. LJ Dunn drained 11 points for the visitors as well as a game high 10 rebounds, which was shared by teammate Brian Leggett.

The Bobcats were led by Stephen HaymeR, (pictured top left), with team highs in points and rebounds, 13 and 7. Darius Roper and Aaron Dugger chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.

Both team return to the court battling non-conference foes. Lees-McRae heads to North Greenville College Monday February 5th while Barton heads to Chowan University Wednesday. Both games are slated to tip off at 7:00pm.
