Pfeiffer University Falcons defeated the Lees-McRae College Bobcats Thursday evening 105-77 in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference action. The Falcons improve to 16-8, (10-7 CVAC) while the Bobcats fall to 5-18, (4-12 CVAC).
The Falcons came out of the gates flying, establishing a 17-2 lead four minutes into the game. The Bobcats responded with an 8-0 run to claw their way back into the game, trailing 23-16 with just under eight minutes to play. A 12-2 Pfeiffer run widened the home side's cushion, 35-18, before the Bobcats again clawed their way back to head into halftime trailing by four, 42-38.
The second half started much like the first, with the Falcons coming out strong, quickly extending their lead to ten. A pair of free throws by the Falcons' Derek Moore capped a 14-1 Pfeiffer run, making the score 71-49, to put the game out of reach with ten and a half minutes to play.
DeMario Grier led the charge for the Falcons with 23 points. Robert McGriff chipped in 17 points while Tavares Cooper had 14 points and a game high 10 rebounds.
Pete Dunbar, (pictured top left), led the Bobcats attack with 18 points while Henry Williams added 17. Aaron Dugger also scored in double digits chipping in 12 points as well as a team high 5 rebounds.
