Eagles Soar Over Bobcats

JEFFERSON CITY, TN--The Lees McRae Bobcats basketball team ended 2007 with a road game, traveling to Carson-Newman to take on the Eagles and falling 100-84. The Bobcats fall to 2-7 while the Eagles improve their record to 6-1.

Zach Hyatte led the Eagles with a game high 20 points, while five others also scored in double digits. Bobby Guyton and Scott Williams added 15 each for the home side while Andy Tipton and Jesse McMurray added 14 and 12 respectively.

Freshman Aaron Woodacre (Piney Flats, TN) led the Bobcats with a team high 14 points while sophomore Josh Kurtz (Oak Ridge, NC) added a season high ten points. Turnovers were the difference in the game, as the Bobcats held a 41-39 edge at halftime but turned the ball over 26 times.

The Bobcats will resume play in 2008 with a Conference Carolinas contest in Laurinburg, NC against St. Andrew's Presbyterian College. Tipoff is scheduled for 4:00pm and will be the second game of a doubleheader with each school's women's teams.
