Men’s Basketball picked fifth in Conference Carolinas Preseason Poll

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team was picked to finish fifth in the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches' Poll released Thursday by the league office.

The Bobcats will look to build upon a 16-15 record overall and a 12-8 mark in league play they posted last season. Junior Lepreece Lynch will be looked upon to lead the scoring efforts for LMC as he is the returning leading scorer after averaging 12.7 points per game in 2015-16.

King University is picked to finish first in league after receiving eight of the 10 first-place votes and 87 points. Barton and Limestone, who both picked up a first-place vote, were selected to finish second and third with point totals of 75 and 72.

Mount Olive is tabbed fourth in the poll with 60 points, followed by Lees-McRae (57) and Erskine (48). North Greenville and Pfeiffer finished tied for seventh with 46 points. Belmont Abbey (26) and Southern Wesleyan (23) rounded out the poll finishing ninth and tenth.

Lees-McRae will take the court for the first time this season on Nov. 3 when it travels to Statesboro, Ga. for a 7 p.m. exhibition contest against Georgia Southern. Following its matchup with the Eagles, the Bobcats will open their regular season Nov. 11 at Tusculum at 8 p.m. LMC's home opener is set for Nov. 22 against Johnson C. Smith. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from Williams Gymnasium.
