TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team overcame cold shooting early in the first half to upend North Greenville University Tuesday night in Conference Carolinas action, 74-63. The victory moves LMC's record to 8-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play. With this victory, the Bobcats match their win total from all of last season with those eight wins.
Lees-McRae started slowly offensively on Tuesday. LMC posted a shooting percentage under 30 percent in the first 10 minutes of the contest. NGU took advantage of the slow start by the Bobcats to stake themselves to a four-point lead (19-15) with a little over eight minutes to go in the first half. After that point, however, LMC's shots started to drop as it outscored the Crusaders 19-4 in the final eight minutes to take a 34-23 lead going into the locker room for halftime.
LMC looked like it would run away from the Crusaders in the second half. The Bobcats led by as many as 20 points at the 11:58 mark in the frame. NGU would not go away quietly, however, as it took a major chunk out of the Lees-McRae lead. The Crusaders did not complete the comeback though as they never came closer than five points to LMC as the Bobcats held on for the xx-xx victory.
Overall, six different Bobcats scored at least six points on the night and 12 of the 14 players that saw playing scored at least three points. Seniors Jordan Turner and Lepreece Lynch led the scoring efforts with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
The Bobcats will look to pick up their third victory in a row Friday when they head to Wilson, N.C. to take on Barton. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
