BANNER ELK, N.C. – Seniors Donte Falls, Jordan Turner and Lepreece Lynch combined for 48 of the team's 91 points as the Lees-McRae College men's basketball team knocked off Erskine Monday afternoon in Williams Gymnasium, 91-81. The victory is Lees-McRae's third straight improving its record to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in conference games.
Despite shooting over sixty percent from the field in the first half, the Flying Fleet found itself down at the break, 48-39. LMC connected on two more field goals than Erskine did and went 11-for-12 from the free throw line compared to 6-for-9 by the Flying Fleet. Jason Saintizaire led LMC's scoring efforts in the frame with 10 points.
Both teams continued to shoot the ball well in the second half. Unfortunately for Erskine, whenever it seemed like it was starting to cut into the Bobcat lead the latter would answer right back. LMC's offense started to click from three-point range in the final 20 minutes with eight three balls. Falls went a perfect 3-for-3 from long range and Turner added two as well. With the long distance shooting working, the Flying Fleet couldn't make much of a comeback as the Bobcats finished of their third straight win, 91-81.
Falls led all scorers Monday with 21 points, which was a season-high. Turner added 14 points with Lynch and Saintizaire not far behind with 13 points each. Falls also paced LMC with five rebounds and Lynch dished out a team-high six assists.
The Bobcats will look to keep things rolling Saturday when they play host to Limestone. The Saints narrowly defeated Lees-McRae earlier this season on their home floor, 94-90. LMC and Limestone are scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
