HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men's basketball player Donte Falls has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week the league office announced Monday morning. Falls joins teammate Kamil Williams as Bobcats who have been named the conference's player of the week this season.
"Donte has been a major piece of our program success from a freshman all the way to a fifth year senior captain," said LMC Head Coach Steve Hardin. "He has played every position on the court. I am excited and proud of him for receiving recognition for his success. I want to thank the Conference Carolinas in all they do for our student athletes."
Falls helped lead the Bobcats to a pair of victories last week over Conference Carolinas foes. In a matchup against Erskine on Monday, Falls scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed a team-high five rebounds to power the Bobcats to a ten point win over the Flying Fleet. The Shelby, N.C. native came back Saturday to score 18 points against Limestone to once again lead LMC to a victory, 88-72. Falls averaged 19.5 points per game, 4.0 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game in the two contests. Additionally, Falls also shot 61.9 percent from the field, 83.3 percent from three-point range and 80.0 percent from the free throw line on the week.
Falls and the rest of the Bobcats will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to Georgia to take on Emmanuel College. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
