MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Lees-McRae College men's basketball team put together a strong second half in an exhibition game at Division I Middle Tennessee State Tuesday night but it ultimately fell to the Blue Raiders, 91-69.
Overall, the Bobcats had a very balanced offense Tuesday night in their first game action of 2018-19. 10 different players scored points in contest. Juwan Blanton led LMC scoring 11 points in 11 minutes of action. Quay Kimble and London England also finished the night in double figures as well with 10 points each.
The strong second half surge by Lees-McRae came after it was outscored 49-29 in the opening 20 minutes. In the second frame, however, LMC was outscored by just two at 42-40. A major key in this improved play was its shooting from long distance. For the game, Lees-McRae connected on nine three-pointers compared to just five for the Blue Raiders.
Lees-McRae will open its regular season this Friday when it travels to rival King University to compete in a neutral site game against Columbus State. Tip-off between the Bobcats and Cougars is set for 5 p.m.
