Queen's University of Charlotte used an explosive second quarter to top Lees-McRae College, 16-9, Tuesday evening in Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference men's lacrosse action. The Royals improved to 2-3, (2-1 CVAC) with the win while the Bobcats fall to 0-3, (0-2 CVAC).
The Royals jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter before Kirk Rogers scored their second and third goals of the season respectively, cutting the deficit in half. Queen's would add one more to finish the first quarter up 5-2. The second quarter saw the home side explode with six straight goals to take a commanding 11-2 lead. Rogers, (pictured top left), would add a pair of goals for the Bobcats sandwiched by two more from the Royals, to finish the first half scoring, 13-4 in favor of the home side.
The second half was a complete opposite of the first, with each team tightening up defensively. When all was said and done, the Bobcats won the half 5-3, but unfortunately the damage done in the first would be costly for Lees-McRae.
Last season's leading goal scorer, Rogers had a team high four goals while Neil Sleight added a pair. Grau, Chris Stieber and Jack Pearl rounded out the scoring for the Bobcats. Stieber's was the first of the year while Pearl notched his first career collegiate goal. Tyler Stieber had a game high 3 assists for the Bobcats. Sleight's pair moved the sophomore's goal scoring streak to three games, and ties him with Rogers for the team lead with five.
After starting the season on the road with three straight, the
Bobcats return home for a pair, hosting Dominican College (NY)
Saturday afternoon at Tate Field while Division I Manhattan College

for noon while Monday's contest is a 1:00pm start.
