Lions Overpower Bobcats

The Lees-McRae College Bobcats men's lacrosse team fell to 0-6 this season with a 17-5 loss at the hands of Saint Leo University Lions Saturday afternoon in non conference action. The Lions ended a two game losing skid to improve to 3-4 this season.

The Lions jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first quarter, and extended the margin to 8-2 by halftime. The Bobcats came out flat in the third quarter, which the home side Lions took full advantage of, outscoring the Bobcats 6-1 to put the game out of reach.

Andrew Murdock and Benjamin Brigham each scored four goals to lead the Lions attack, with Murdock also adding a pair of assists. Ryan Harris was good for six points off of three goals and three assists while Murdock also contributed a pair of assists.

Jason Schafhauser scored two goals for the Bobcats, his third consecutive two goal game. Schafhauser, (pictured top left) has scored in all but one game this season, and leads the team in goals with nine. Brandon Gilseth also buried a pair, a career high for the freshman. Chris Stieber rounded out the scoring, picking up his third of the season.

Saint Leo goalie David Erdman made seven saves in three quarters of work. DJ Garry made a pair of saves in the fourth quarter. Bobcats starter Adam Canoy played the first three quarters and registered 16 saves, before giving way to Shane Sheppard who made a career high 5 saves.

The Bobcats will return home to Tate Field Wednesday, hosting Presbyterian College at 4:00pm.
