Cardinals Fly Over Bobcats

The Lees-McRae Bobcats hosted Wheeling Jesuit University Wednesday afternoon in men's lacrosse non-conference action, falling 15-6 to the Cardinals. The Cardinals improve to 4-5 with the win while the Bobcats fall to 0-11.

Mark Greaney led the visitors attack with a game high seven points, scoring a hat trick while setting up four. Dennis McKenna and John Eager each buried a pair for the Cardinals while Jack Malone, Joe Idone, John Miller, Joel Basso, Peter Koerner, Sean Smith, Sam Kackman and Eric Jenkins each added singles. Malone also added four assists while Idone set up a pair.

Jason Schafhauser, (pictured top left), led the Bobcats with a hat trick to bring his season total to a team leading 17. Tyler Stieber added a pair for the Bobcats, his third consecutive multi point game, while Matt Markey added a single, extending his goal scoring streak to three games.

Adam Canoy registered a season high 22 saves while Shane Sheppard picked four in 5:31 of action. Ryan Ferris picked up four saves for the Cardinals while Joe Sims stopped three.

The Bobcats return to action this Saturday afternoon hosting Catawba in non-conference action. Game time is set for 2:00pm.
