Indians Top Bobcats in Season Finale

The Lees-McRae College Bobcats lacrosse team closed out their 2007 season at Catawba College Friday evening, falling 11-3 to the Indians. The Bobcats end the year at 0-15 while the Indians finish their season at 7-8.

Senior captain Tyler Stieber, (pictured top left), put the Bobcats on the board with his 17th of the season to knot the score at one after Catawba's Nick Desper had opened the scoring. Stieber's goal came with the man advantage, the Bobcats only man up tally, as the visitors were a woeful one for eight. Mike Dolesh added a pair for the Indians to end the first quarter at 3-1.

Catawba added three unanswered goals in both the second and third quarters to take a commanding 9-1 lead. The Bobcats opened the fourth with a pair of goals from freshman Brandon Gilseth and Matt Markey only to have the Indians get them back with a pair of late markers to end the game 11-3.

Stieber's tally was the 49th of his four year career, moving him into fourth place in career goals scored. The Charlotte, NC was named Team MVP at the Bobcats annual banquet Thursday evening.
