Nesdill Named Men's Lacrosse Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.-- Lees-McRae College's Andy Nesdill (0-3 overall, 0-2 conf.) has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week during week number two in the 2009 season.

Sophomore goalkeeper Andy Nesdill led the Lees-McRae College Bobcat's men's lacrosse team this week with his career high save performance between the pipes.

Despite the 9-8 double overtime loss to Pfeiffer, Nesdill faced 42 total shots, 32 shots on goal, and made 23 saves.

He started off the game with 15 shots in the first period and made 10 saves. In the second half he faced 22 shots and made 10 saves Twenty-two of the 23 saves came in regulation.

In the first overtime period Nesdill saved the only shot he faced to send the game into double overtime.

Nesdill's effort puts him in second place in Lees-McRae College record books for saves in a single game with 23.
