Bobcats Fall to Young Harris on Senior Day, 7-3

BOONE, N.C. --- Lees-McRae sophomore Schuylor Dickerson and freshman Louis Parks notched a goal each in a 43 second span in the first quarter, but Young Harris rattled off six unanswered goals on its way to defeating LMC, 7-3, in nonconference men's lacrosse action on a blustery Sunday afternoon at Watauga High School in Boone, N.C. on Senior Day.

Prior to the game, LMC's lone senior, Kyle Judge (Hampstead, Md.) was honored for his accomplishments as a Bobcat.

The Mountain Lions (4-8) fired off 59 shots, including 20 in the third quarter, while Ryan Ningard registered a hat trick. The Bobcats (0-9) played tough defense the whole game while forcing 20 YHC turnovers.

Ningard recorded 13 shots while Joe Appolonia and Zachary Laird had nine and eight, respectively.

Dickerson (Crozet, Va.) bested YHC's Bobby Parker when he whipped a shot over Parker's right shoulder to put LMC up 1-0 at the 5:58 mark in the opening quarter.

Parks (Mays Landing, N.J.) followed suit with a goal 43 seconds later to extend the lead to two, 2-0.

The Mountain Lions Mason McBroom found Laird in front the net before Laird buried home YHC's first goal of the day.

Eric Fancher delivered the equalizer with 10:38 remaining in the second quarter on an unassisted goal.

Three different YHC players recorded an assist on Ningard's three goals while it took a 5-2 lead halfway through the third.

Bobcat junior Dalton Lamb (Clemmons, N.C.) fed Judge a slick pass before the senior found the back of the net with 4:35 remaining in the game.

Judge, Dickerson and Parks recorded five shots each while Benjamin Shifflett (Clemmons, N.C.) impressed in goal with 19 saves.

Freshman Treven Salminen (Lynden, Wash.) scooped a game-high five groundballs.

The Bobcats welcome Limestone for a Conference Carolinas tilt Tuesday, April 1 at 4 p.m. to Tate Field.
