Stottlar Scores Four in Loss at Lincoln Memorial, 15-6

HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Junior Blaine Stottlar kicked off the 2015 campaign in impressive fashion with a four-goal effort while the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team was upended by Lincoln Memorial, 15-6, in its season opener at LMU Lacrosse Field on a blustery Saturday afternoon in Harrogate, Tenn.

The Railsplitters (1-1) amassed 46 shots while scooping 32 groundballs behind Tylor Justin's four-goal performance. The Bobcats (0-1) saw Jordan Lombardo (York, Pa.) stonewall 12 shots in his collegiate debut.

Five LMU players recorded at least two goals in the contest.

Stottlar (Clinton, N.Y.) got in the mix early when he dished out an assist to sophomore Dane Carney (Manchester, England) only 14 seconds into the game.

The Railsplitters responded with a 4-0 run over the next 10 minutes while Jared Courchene found the back of the net twice.

Stottlar tallied an unassisted goal at the 12:47 mark of the first quarter.

Both defenses clamped down in the second, but a pair of Justin goals gave LMU a 7-2 lead at halftime.

The Bobcats corralled eight groundballs in the first 30 minutes of play.

LMC's Stottlar continued his solid performance with two goals in a 26-second span in the third before tallying his third goal of the period with 32 seconds remaining in the quarter.

LMU extended its lead to 15-5 following a pair of Jusstin Ruffin goals.

Freshman Tanner Jones (Comox Valley, British Columbia) recorded his first collegiate assist on a Carney goal in the fourth.

Sophomore William Eagle (Winston-Salem, N.C.) won five faceoffs while Alex Gudewich (Frederick, Md.) led the team with five groundballs.

The Bobcats welcome Mount Olive to Tate Field for a Conference Carolinas battle Saturday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. in Banner Elk, N.C.
