BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Senior Jarrod Brady scored a season-high four goals and senior Joshua Shingleton dished out a trio of assists, but the Lees-McRae men's lacrosse team dropped a 21-8 decision to Belmont Abbey in Conference Carolinas play Wednesday afternoon in rainy Banner Elk, N.C.
The Crusaders (9-4, 2-3 CC) saw Connor Sellars and Riley Quinlan combine for 27 shots and eight goals. The Bobcats (1-12, 0-6) at least scored eight goals for the fourth time this season.
LMC senior Dalton Lamb (Clemmons, N.C.) wasted no time putting the Bobcats on the board when he scored only 15 seconds into the contest.
Six different BAC players notched a goal during a 7-0 run over a span of 8:10.
Sophomore Dane Carney (Manchester, England) whipped a shot past Harley Whitman with nine seconds remaining in the opening quarter while Shingleton (Temecula, Calif.) dialed up an assist.
Brady (Kernersville, N.C.) caught fire in the second quarter by netting a hat trick in only 8:49.
Carney enjoyed an impressive quarter by scoring on a man-up situation with 34 seconds left in the half. The sophomore dealt out a pair of assists to Brady earlier in the frame.
Brady and Carney scored a goal each in the fourth quarter.
A quartet of Bobcats scooped four groundballs each while BAC's Billy Huss led all players with 10.
Freshman Jordan Lombardo (York, Pa.) overcame some sloppy conditions and stonewalled 17 shots.
Both teams combined to go 31-for-34 on clear attempts.
The Bobcats welcome Ohio Valley Sunday, April 19 at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. Lamb, Brady and Shingleton will be honored prior to the contest.
