No. 15 Belmont Abbey downs Lees-McRae, 21-5

BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team fell to No. 15 Belmont Abbey by a score of 21-5 Wednesday night at Tate Field. The loss moves LMC's record to 5-9 overall and 2-4 in Conference Carolinas play.

Belmont Abbey came out with a flurry of offense in the first 15 minutes of play as it scored nine goals in the quarter. The Crusaders added six in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth to account for the 21 goals in the game.

Sophomore Alec Molander paced the Bobcats' attack against the Crusaders with three points (2g, 1a). Dane Carney, Blaine Stottlar and Louis Parks also notched goals in the contest.

Cameron Castle was tagged with the loss moving his record to 5-9 on the season. Castle did stop 19 Belmont Abbey shots Wednesday and picked up a team-high five ground balls.

LMC will close out its 2017 season with a matchup against North Greenville Saturday at Tate Field. The game, which is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m., will be the senior day for its six member senior class.
