BLACK MOUNTAIN, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team opened its 2018 schedule in exciting fashion Wednesday at Montreat College. Lees-McRae trailed by as many as five goals before rallying to tie the score at 13-13 with 1.4 seconds remaining and then netted the game-winner in overtime to give first-year head coach Brad Dunn a victory in his first game as coach of his alma mater.
Junior Alec Molander, who netted the game-winning goal in overtime, led the Bobcats scoring five goals and adding three assists. Jonathan Barry, Ryan Beauchamp, Craig Barr and Tanner Jones also netted goals on the afternoon for Lees-McRae. For Barry and Barr, they made a definite impact in their respective collegiate debuts scoring two and three goals, respectively.
Cameron Castle got the win in goal for Lees-McRae and made eight saves on the game.
The Bobcats will host nationally-ranked Limestone next Wednesday at Tate Field. Wednesday's contest, which will be LMC's home opener, is scheduled to get underway at 4 p.m.
