BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team will face its second ranked opponent in three days Tuesday night when it visits No. 3 Limestone College in another Conference Carolinas contest. First face-off between the Bobcats and Saints is set for 7 p.m.
Last time out – Lees-McRae dropped a 19-6 decision to No. 17 Mount Olive last Sunday in its conference opener. The loss pushed Lees-McRae's record to 2-3 on the 2019 season.
Road Warriors for March – Beginning with Tuesday's game at Limestone, the Bobcats will play the rest of their games in the month of March away from home. Lees-McRae have scheduled trips to Davis & Elkins on March 14, Barton on March 16 and Emmanuel on March 23 before the calendar turns to April.
Shooting Accuracy – A strength of the Bobcats so far this season has been not only their ability to get scoring chances but also make the most of them. Lees-McRae has a 38.8 shooting percentage in 2019, which tops Conference Carolinas and ranks fourth nationally. Only Adelphi (41.8), Tusculum (41.7) and Merrimack (41.4) have higher shooting percentages in Division II men's lacrosse than the Bobcats.
About Limestone – The Saints have been one of the more impressive teams in not only the conference but also in the nation through this season's first month. Limestone has knocked off four straight ranked opponents, including a 10-9 triumph over No. 17 Queens (N.C.) last Saturday, 10-9. Limestone, which is 5-0, is paced offensively by the quartet of Tyler Papa, Larson Sundown, Jeremy Burns and Clark Walter as all four players have scored 11 or more goals so far this spring.
Series Rewind – Tuesday's game will mark the third straight season that the Bobcats have made the trip to Limestone. In the matchup last spring, the Saints knocked off the Bobcats by a score of 21-8. Alec Molander paced Lees-McRae in that contest scoring three of the team's eight goals.
