Men's Lacrosse drops conference tilt at No. 3 Limestone Tuesday night

GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team fell in Conference Carolinas action at No. 3 Limestone by a score of 25-5 on Tuesday night (Mar. 5).

Game Summary - The nationally-ranked Saints led 8-0 after one quarter, with Lees-McRae totaling two shots in the opening frame.

The Saints equaled their goal total from the first quarter in the second, taking a 16-0 lead to the half. Lees-McRae totaled six shots, three on goal through the first half.

The Bobcats got on the board less than four minutes into the third quarter, when Ethan Knight stashed home his 11th of the season from Jake Leath. Knight would score again unassisted with 7:33 to play in the quarter. Lee-McRae would score its third goal of the game off the stick of Ryan Beauchamp with three seconds left in the quarter, his 10th of the season. The No. 3 Saints held a 19-3 lead heading to the fourth quarter.

Craig Barr would score his 15th of the season from Alec Molander with 9:11 to play in the fourth quarter, before Knight would complete the hat trick for his 13th of the season with 1:45 to play off an assist from Jackson Galloway.

Stats Rundown - Lees-McRae totaled 20 shots in the game, with 14 on goal. Knight led the scoring effort with a hat trick, while Barr and Beauchamp also scored in the game. Molander, Leath and Galloway registered assists on the evening. Lees-McRae totaled 26 ground balls in the game, with Tristan Hashemi led with four ground balls, while Leath picked up three. Another three Bobcats each collected two, while seven others each scooped up one. The Bobcats caused 10 turnovers in the loss, led by four from Beauchamp. Hashemi caused three, while another three men each caused one. Bryce James and Beauchamp each won two face-offs on the night. Cameron Castle made nine saves in the game, while Rob Mendez and Jack Cruz each made one save in their time in net.  

Up Next - The Bobcats (2-4, 0-2 Conference Carolinas) play their second of four consecutive road games next Thursday (Mar. 14) at Davis & Elkins. Opening face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
