BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College men's lacrosse team celebrated senior day with an 18-12 victory over Alderson Broaddus University Saturday afternoon at Tate Field. The victory boosts Lees-McRae's record to 4-7 on the 2019 season.
The difference in Saturday's game proved to be the first and fourth quarters. Lees-McRae outscored the Battlers 7-3 in the first 15 minutes of the contest and again by a 4-2 margin in the fourth and final quarter. In comparison, the Battlers and Bobcats matched each other to a 7-7 tie in the second and third quarters.
Several Bobcats had stellar days statistically against the Battlers. Alec Molander led all Bobcats with nine points (5g, 4a) bringing his season point total to 71 on the season. Molander needs just 11 more points to break the program's single-season record, which he already owns with 81 points back in 2017.
Not far behind Molander in terms of offensive production were the trio of Jackson Galloway (5g, 1a), Jonathan Barry (3g, 2a) and Craig Barr (2g, 2a). Ethan Knight (1g, 1a) and Landon Barrow (2a) also had multi-point efforts, while Jake Leath and Tristan Hashemi both scored goals to help the cause as well.
Senior netminder Cameron Castle posted his second straight game where he stopped at least 50 percent of the shots he faced. Against ABU, Castle stopped 14 shots in 26 opportunities. The win boosts Castle's record to 4-7 on his senior campaign.
The Bobcats will reenter Conference Carolinas play on Wednesday when they welcome North Greenville to Tate Field. First face-off between the Bobcats and Crusaders is set for 6 p.m.
