Banner Elk, NC--Jarret Fleharty (Mocksville, NC) committed to Lees-McRae College and signed the National Letter of Intent to participate for the Lees-McRae College Men's Soccer program.
Jarret a graduate of Davie County High School will be
joining the Bobcats in 2007. Jarret was a solid player for both his
High school and club team, PSA '88 Star White. Jarret was two time
All-Region at high school while also winning three All-Conference
and three MVP awards. Head Coach Whalley said "Jarret will add
great depth to our midfield and am very excited about working with
him and feel he is a great for our program."" Jarret plans to
major in Business Administration while attending Lees-McRae
College. He is the son of Briana Chilton and Pete Fleharty.
The Bobcats are coming off of their second consecutive
winning season under Coach Whalley, (pictured top left). The 2006
season saw the Bobcats ranked in the top 25 in NCAA Division II for
three weeks, achieving the highest ranking in school history,
13th. "My goal is to get our team back to winning conference
championships and to make the program into a powerhouse in the
southeast region," said Whalley.
The Bobcats won the Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference Championship in 1998, 2002 and 2003. Current Assistant Coaches Nick Young '02 and Calvin Dixon '05 each earned two championships during their time in green and gold.
Lees-McRae is a private four year liberal arts college
located in Banner Elk, NC and is affiliated with Conference
Carolinas, competing within the NCAA Division II ranks.
