MISENHEIMER, NC--The #2 Lees-McRae College Bobcats soccer team improved to 13-1-1 Saturday afternoon, coming from behind to top Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas action. The Bobcats also up their conference-leading record to 7-1 while the Falcons fall to 7-6-1 (3-3-1).
The Falcons came out flying as Renato Barboa gave the home side the early lead finding the back of the net in the fifth minute. The Falcons would use the momentum to take a 2-0 lead into halftime with Mat Harris scoring in the 28th minute, as the Bobcats found themselves trailing for the first time this season.
The nationally ranked Bobcats regrouped in the second half and managed to get the job done, proving why they are the second ranked team in the country. Berin Boracic struck first for the visitors, scoring his 13th of the season just six minutes in to cut the deficit to one. In the 72nd minute, Conference Carolinas leading scorer Lee Squires would knot the score with his 15th of the season, setting the stage for Boracic's game winner, and his 14th goal of the season, in the 82nd minute.
The Bobcats will travel to Mount Olive next Saturday for a Conference Carolinas match up slated for 4:00pm before returning home to face Belmont Abbey on senior night October 24th.
