Bobcats Down Falcons 2-0 on Homecoming Weekend

BANNER ELK, N.C. - Kyle McGimsey scored in the 39th minute to boost the Lees-McRae Bobcats to a 2-0 win over the Pfeiffer University Falcons in a Conference Carolinas match Saturday at Tate Field during Homecoming Weekend.


Ignacio Falco (Weston, Fla.) provided McGimsey (Plant City, Fla.) with the scoring opportunity on a cross to the backside of the Pfeiffer defense. McGimsey was left one-on-one with the keeper and easily found the back of the net.

David Palmer (Gateshead, England) added an insurance goal in the 65th minute when Steven Nixon (Sheffield, England) took the ball down the right side and laid off a pass to Palmer. Palmer beat the Falcon keeper to far post for the goal.

Sean Paradise (North Port, Fla.) made four saves in goal for the Bobcats to earn his fifth shutout on the season.

With the win the Bobcats, improve to 10-2 overall and 4-0 in the conference while the Falcons fall to 3-6 overall and 2-1 in the conference.

Bobcat head coach Chris Whalley remains unbeaten during homecoming matches throughout his career as a player and coach.

The Bobcats' next match is at Tate Field Tuesday, October 7th at 7 p.m. against the Limestone College Saints.
