Jones listed fourth in nation in assists
INDIANAPOLIS --- Freshman midfielder Justin Jones (Jamestown, N.C.) continues to be ranked among the nation's leaders in assists, entering the week listed fourth in the country in helpers announced NCAA officials Wednesday with the release of the latest edition of the NCAA Division II men's soccer statistics.
Lees-McRae (7-2-2, 4-0-1 CC) enters the week riding a six-match unbeaten strike, a stretch that includes a pivotal 2-0 victory over Southeast Region foe Carson-Newman College. The Bobcats are ranked 25th in the nation in winning percentage (0.75), 41st in total goals (20), 52nd in team goals against average (1.06), and 54th in scoring offense (2.0).
Jones has been a tremendous part of the Bobcats' success this season, entering the week ranked fourth in the nation in total assists (six) and 14th in helpers per match (0.6). Senior forward Lee Squires (Sheffield, U.K.) begins the week ranked 35th in total goals (six) and 37th in total points (15), while also ranking 59th in markers per match (1.5) and 64th in goals per contest (0.6).
Jamie Bladen (Yorkshire, U.K.) and James Galvani (High Wycombe, U.K.) are tied for 34th in the nation in total assists (four), while entering the week also tied for 73rd in helpers per match (0.4). Galvani is also ranked 50th in total points (14), 75th in total goals (five), 77th in markers per match (1.4), and 91st in goals per contest (0.5). Freshman goalkeeper Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, U.K.) is also ranked 35th in goals against average (0.92).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Saturday when the Bobcats travel to Charlotte, N.C. for a conference match-up with Queens University of Charlotte. The match is slated for 7:30 p.m.
