Bobcats climb to fifth in Southeast Region poll
INDIANAPOLIS --- The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team is listed fifth in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, climbing one spot from last week, announced NCAA officials Tuesday.
Lees-McRae (8-2-2, 5-0-1 CC) has won five of its last seven contests, entering the week riding a seven-match unbeaten streak that includes a trio of impressive shutout victories. The Bobcats continued their march in search of a fourth-straight Conference Carolinas title with a 3-0 clean sheet against Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday, pushing their league record to a conference-best 5-0-1 with three matches to play.
Clayton State University (10-2-0) tops the region for the first time this season, followed by Flagler College (7-3-1), University of Montevallo (9-1-1), and Mars Hill College (9-1-1). Lees-McRae is up one spot from a week ago, entering the week ranked fifth in the region, followed by North Georgia College & State University (5-2-3), Carson-Newman College (8-2-1), and Wingate University (8-2-0).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Thursday when the Bobcats travel to Dahlonega, Ga. to take on North Georgia in a pivotal region clash. The match is slated to kick off at 5 p.m.
