HIGH POINT, N.C. --- Lees-McRae College defender Luke Duffy (Wakefield, U.K.) was named to the 2010 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Academic All-Conference Team for the first time in his career, announced league officials Wednesday.
Duffy has enjoyed a tremendous season for the Bobcats, providing an experienced and calming presence on an LMC back line which has allowed one goal or less on 11 occasions this season, including three shutouts. The 5-10, 155-pound junior has been an integral part of the Bobcats' success since he arrived on the LMC campus in the fall of 2008, leading the Bobcats to two straight conference titles in that span.
A 2009 Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America Third Team selection, Duffy has paced the Bobcat backline to 23 shutouts in his three seasons with the program, while also leading Lees-McRae to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two years.
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Saturday when the Bobcats host Coker College to wrap up their conference and regular season schedule. The match is slated to kick off at 6 p.m. following the conclusion of LMC's Senior Day festivities.
