Perry ranked 10th in nation in assists

INDIANAPOLIS --- Senior forward Lee Squires (Sheffield, U.K.) is ranked among the nation's top 25 scorers in four statistical categories in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II men's soccer statistics, announced NCAA officials Wednesday.

Lees-McRae (12-4-2, 7-1-1 CC) captured the program's fourth-straight Conference Carolinas regular season title last Saturday, rallying to defeat Coker 2-1 to claim the top seed in this week's conference tournament. The Bobcats enter the week ranked 35th in winning percentage (0.706), 40th in total goals (36.0), 44th in scoring offense (2.12), and 53rd in team goals against average (1.07).

Squires has found the back of the net in four of his last six matches to vault into the Conference Carolinas lead in goals (13), and points (31), which also rank 15th and 17th in the nation, respectively. The 5-10, 165-pound forward is also ranked 21st in goals per match (0.76), 23rd in points per contest (1.82), and 23rd in assists per tilt (0.53).

Sophomore Luke Perry (Cheshire, U.K.) has tallied seven assists in his last five matches to vault into the top 10 in total helpers, entering the week ranked 10th with nine assists this far. The 5-11, 155-pound midfielder is also ranked 23rd in assists per match (0.53). Freshman Justin Jones (Jamestown, N.C.) continues to be ranked among the nation's top playmakers, entering the week listed 35th in total assists (7.0) and 56th in helpers per contest (0.41).

James Galvani (High Wycombe, U.K.) begins the week ranked 73rd in total points (21.0), 78th in markers per match (1.31), 79th in total goals (8.0), and 83rd in goals per contest (0.5). Freshman goalkeeper Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, U.K.) is also ranked 49th in goals against average (1.03) after recording his 13th match allowing one goal or less on Saturday against Coker.

The top-seeded Bobcats return to the pitch on Friday when they host fifth-seeded Pfeiffer University in the semifinal round of the conference tournament. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Tate Field.
