Squires nets Daktronics All-America honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Lees-McRae College senior Lee Squires (Sheffield, England) has been named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II Men's Soccer All-America team for the third time in his career, announced national officials Thursday.
Squires garnered honorable mention recognition after leading the Bobcats to a 13-5-3 record, their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, fourth consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season title, and third conference tournament championship in the last four years. The 5-10, 165-pound forward led the Bobcats and the conference with 14 goals and 35 points en route to his second career Conference Carolinas Player of the Year selection.
The three-time All-American concludes his career with 67 goals, 15 assists, and 149 points to rank among the program's all-time leaders in each category. A native of Sheffield, England, Squires finished the season ranked fifth in the region in total goals and total points, while concluding his decorated career with the Bobcats with a trio of 10-goal campaigns, including a pair of years with at least 20 scores.
Lees-McRae is expected to return 16 lettermen for their Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship squad, including all-Conference Carolinas First Team selections Luke Perry (Cheshire, England), David Palmer (Gateshead, England), and Luke Duffy (Wakefield, England). The Bobcats posted their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance this season, while capturing the program's fourth consecutive Conference Carolinas regular season title.
