BANNER ELK, N.C. --- The Lees-McRae College men's soccer program has released the dates and times for the school's ninth annual summer camps, announced head coach Matt Thompson on Monday.
The camps will be offered in two sessions, each running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Session one will take place from June 20th to June 24th, with session two being offered from July 18th to July 22nd. A shuttle bus will pick up camper in the old parking lot at Watauga High School each morning at 8:30 a.m., and drop them off at 4:30 p.m.
The camp is open to campers between the ages of five and 14 at a cost of $175 for full-day campers, and $100 for half-day campers. Each camper will receive a T-shirt in addition to other prizes awarded for competitions throughout the week. Each day of the camp, campers and counselors will go to nearby Wildcat Lake for lunch and a swim. Lunch can also be ordered each day from Subway for an additional $5 per day.
Coach Thompson is also pleased to announce the addition of the first annual High School Residential Team Camp, to be offered from July 24th to July 27. Enrollment is limited to the first 10 teams to make a deposit, which is due for all participating players prior to July 11th at a rate of $50 per player. The camp will be offered at a cost of $275 per resident or $200 per commuter. A variety of great team bonding opportunities will also be available, including rock climbing, tubing, and white water rafting.
Each enrolled team will be assigned a current collegiate head coach, who will be assisted by current Lees-McRae players. The camp will focus on the tactics used at the college level, including defensive shape, attacking patterns of play, as well as positional sense needed to play at the highest level. The camp is designed to identify the strengths and weaknesses in each team, and provide the players and coaching staff with the tools to better utilize them on the road to success.
To register for either of the above camps, please contact Coach Thompson by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at (828) 898-8801. More information is also available in the brochure, which can be found here.
