KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Lees-McRae College
men's soccer team is receiving votes in this week's edition of the
NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Top 25 Coaches' Poll,
announced NSCAA officials Tuesday.
The Bobcats (3-1, 1-0 Conference Carolinas) have won each of
their last three matches, including a 2-1 come-from-behind win over
then-No. 22 Flagler College on Sep. 3. Lees-McRae posted an
unblemished 2-0 record last week, recording a pair of 1-0 victories
over Lenoir-Rhyne University and St. Andrews Presbyterian College
to vault to fourth in the region rankings.
Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, England) and the
Bobcat backline rank among the nation's leaders in several
categories, as Rusling is listed 24th in goals against average
(0.493) and 41st in save percentage (0.818). The Bobcats also
ranked 19th in team goals against average (0.49) and 21st in
shutout percentage (0.50), while senior captain David Palmer (South
Shields, England) is listed 35th in total assists (2.0).
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats
travel to Bristol, Tenn. to take on conference newcomer King
College in league play. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
