Lees-McRae climbs to ninth in Southeast Region
KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- The Lees-McRae College men's soccer team is ranked ninth in the latest edition of the NSCAA/Continental Tires NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, making an appearance in the poll for the second consecutive week.
Lees-McRae (8-3-1, 5-1 Conference Carolinas) has been on a tremendous run of form lately, winning four straight matches after registering a narrow 3-2 victory over Pfeiffer University on Monday afternoon. The Bobcats have opened the conference schedule strong, winning five of their first six matches to enter Wednesday evening's pivotal clash with Belmont Abbey College trailing No. 11 and league-leading Coker College by just one game in the conference standings.
Anderson University (9-2-0) enters the week ranked atop the region and ninth in the nation, followed closely by No. 11 Coker and No. 21 University of Montevallo (8-2-2). Flagler College (7-3-1) is ranked fourth in the region, followed by Limestone College (8-3-0), Lander University (6-4-1), and Mars Hill College (7-4-0). Clayton State University (7-4-0) is eighth, while Lees-McRae and Barton College (7-3-0) round out the poll in ninth and 10th, respectively.
Lees-McRae returns to the pitch on Wednesday when the Bobcats host Belmont Abbey College in conference play at 7 p.m. on Tate Field.
