BANNER ELK, N.C. --- Senior James Galvani scored his team-high seventh goal and sophomore Nicholas Stover recorded his second consecutive shutout while the Lees-McRae men's soccer team blanked Mount Olive, 1-0, in Conference Carolinas for Homecoming at Tate Field Saturday evening in Banner Elk, N.C.
The Bobcats (7-2-1, 2-1-1 CC) continued their impressive season while outshooting the opposition 18-6. The Trojans (2-6-2, 0-3) played on their heels throughout the match and only mustered two shots in the first half.
Galvani (High Wycombe, England) didn't miss when he had a wide open goal. The senior and UMO goalie Nick Bernsdorf collided at the top of the box when Bernsdorf came out to help the defensive line, but, the play backfired when Galvani outmuscled Bernsdorf and had a wide open net at the 21:33 mark.
The Bobcat offense controlled tempo for a majority of the match outshooting the Trojans 10-2 in the first half while Galvani (seven) and senior James Smith (Eastbourne, England) (four) led the team in shots.
Stover notched two saves in his second shutout on the season.
LMC returns to action in a crucial showdown with CC foe Limestone Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Tate Field.
