Rieger, Smith Named to Capital One Academic All-District III Team

AUSTIN, TEXAS --- Lees-McRae sophomore Marvyn Rieger and senior James Smith have been named to the Capital One Academic All-District III Men's Soccer Team, CoSIDA announced Thursday afternoon. 

Rieger is sports a 4.0 grade-point-average and is a Sports Administration major while providing solid defensive play for coach Lee Squires. 

The Frankfurt, Germany, native was the Conference Carolinas All-Conference Second-Team last season and has appeared and started 33 matches in his short career with the Bobcats. 

Rieger has tallied a pair of goals this season, including the team's first goal in a 4-2 win against King (Tenn.) on Tuesday. 

Smith is a Sports Science major and has a 3.85 GPA while sitting second on the team with eight goals.

The Eastbourne, England, native has appeared and started 56 matches and has delivered five match-winning goals, including a trio this season. 

The senior converted on a successful penalty kick against King (Tenn.) to put LMC ahead late in the second half.

He has produced 50 points and 86 shots on goal during his four years in a Bobcat jersey. 

The Bobcats host Emmanuel (Ga.) for Senior Day Friday, Oct. 31 at 3 p.m. on Tate Field.
