JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. --- Nathan Watt tallied his first goal of the season, but the Lees-McRae men's soccer team was downed, 2-1, by Carson-Newman Saturday evening at McCown Field in Jefferson City, Tenn.
The Eagles (1-0) scored twice in 10 minutes in the first half. The Bobcats' (0-2) Watt (Newcastle, United Kingdom) registered three shots.
CNU jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Samuel Jenkins found the back of the net at the 29:49 mark.
The Eagles pushed the advantage to two, 2-0 when Bruno Andrade score while Marius Staalby earned the assist.
Watt blasted a shot home to cut the deficit in half, 2-1, in the 52th minute.
LMC's Thomas Deeley (Oxford, England) put a shot on frame with 2:16 remaining, but CNU's Joe Boyd made the save.
Watt had a shot sail high with 34 seconds left.
Goalkeeper Tyler Pavlet (Goodyear, Ariz.) made eight saves.
The Bobcats welcome Tusculum Wednesday, Sep. 10 at 7 p.m. to Tate Field in Banner Elk, N.C.
