MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – Sophomore Harvey McMorrow scored his first collegiate goal in the 12th minute of play Saturday against Mount Olive to help lift the No. 17 Lees-McRae College men's soccer to a 1-0 victory over UMO. The victory propels the Bobcats to a 5-0-1 record and a perfect 3-0-0 mark in league matches so far in 2017.
McMorrow's goal in the first half was set up by fellow sophomore Taylor Gray. It was Gray's third assist on the season and third in the past three matches. As for McMorrow, it marked the third consecutive tilt where he either provided an assist on the game-winning goal or scored it himself. McMorrow leads the league with his six assists and is tied for second on the team with eight points.
Senior goalkeeper Tyler Pavlet kept the Trojans in check as he picked up his first shutout of the season. The Goodyear, Arizona native made five saves in the victory. Pavlet continues his stellar play against Mount Olive in his career. In three career starts covering 270 minutes of action against Mount Olive, Pavlet has not allowed any goals.
The Bobcats will return to the pitch Wednesday evening when they host Lincoln Memorial in a non-conference matchup at Tate Field. LMU was ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches' Poll last week so Wednesday's match could be a matchup between a pair of top-25 teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
