BANNER ELK, N.C. – Southern Wesleyan scored a goal in each half Saturday afternoon to knock off the Lees-McRae College men's soccer team by a score of 2-0. The loss moves the Bobcats to 5-3-2 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.
Despite falling by a 2-0 score Saturday, the Bobcats controlled the pace of play for the majority of the contest. Lees-McRae ended up outshooting the Warriors 19-9, including 6-5 in shots on goal. The Bobcats also attempted the only three corner kicks in the match.
The duo of Nathan Watt and Harvey McMorrow totaled nearly half of LMC's shots against the Warriors. Watt finished with five shots, while McMorrow posted four. McMorrow also logged two of the team's six shots on goal with the others coming from Johannes Oeksnevad, Pol Vassart, Luis Jimenez and Watt.
Tyler Pavlet made three saves in five attempts Saturday but was tagged with the loss after allowing those pair of Warrior goals. Pavlet's record dips to 5-3-2 with the loss.
Lees-McRae will return to action Wednesday when it travels to Tusculum for a non-conference contest. Kickoff between the Bobcats and Pioneers is set for 7:30 p.m.
