HIGH POINT, N.C. – For the second time this season, Lees-McRae College men's soccer player Tom Deeley has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Player of the Week the league office announced Monday. Deeley, who was also named the league's player of the week on September 11, joins teammate Harvey McMorrow as Bobcats who have earned this honor this season.
Deeley totaled nine points over the course of two matches last week. Deeley began the week scoring a pair of goals at Newberry to help the Bobcats to a 2-2 tie in that matchup. The senior midfielder followed that performance with a five-point outing in a 7-0 win over Erskine Saturday with a pair of goals and an assist.
"Today, I'm thrilled for Tom," said LMC Head Coach Rich Wall. "This recognition means a lot to us as a program. For him to earn the honor while being able to play in front of his parents for the first time in four years makes it that much sweeter! He will never forget his senior night. Hopefully he, and the rest of the squad can carry this momentum through the last week of the regular season and into the Conference Carolinas Tournament."
With his nine points last week, Deeley continues to move up on the program's all-time record list in multiple categories. The Oxford, England native currently ranks fifth all-time in points (93), tied for fifth in goals scored (35) and assists (23) and sixth with eight match-winning goals.
Deeley and the rest of the Bobcats will look to maintain this momentum Tuesday when they host North Greenville at Tate Field. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
