HIGH POINT, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men's soccer player Nathan Watt has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Player of the Week the league office announced Monday. It marks the first player of the week award in Watt's career, and it is also the fourth time this season that a Bobcat has earned the honor. The four player of the week award winners are the most in a single season in the history of the program.
"I'm proud of Nathan's achievement," said LMC Head Coach Rich Wall. "He has been the epitome of a Bobcat through his four years. This is a great way to finish his regular season career. He's been a catalyst for us of late, and I hope everyone around him continues to feed off of his passion and energy throughout the conference tournament."
Watt helped lead the Bobcats to a pair of wins over North Greenville and Emmanuel (GA) last week. The Newcastle, England native totaled seven points with one goal and five assists. Watt not only leads LMC with 14 assists this season but his assist total is the fifth-most by a Bobcat player in the history of the program in a single season. Overall, Watt is third on Lees-McRae with 20 points this fall with three goals and 14 assists.
Watt and the rest of the Bobcats will be back in action Tuesday when they host Erskine in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Tournament. It marks the third consecutive year that the Bobcats and Flying Fleet have matched up in the first round of the event. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Tate Field Tuesday.
