BANNER ELK, N.C. – Lees-McRae College men's soccer player Tom Deeley has added three more academic honors to his resume late last week. Deely was named to CoSIDA's Academic All-American Third Team, United Soccer Coaches Association Men's Soccer Scholar All-American Team and Scholar All-Region Team.
"Tom has capped off an impressive senior season, and career in extreme fashion," said LMC Head Coach Rich Wall. "His dedication to succeed went beyond just what he did on the field for the program. I am happy for him to be recognized by both the United Soccer Coaches, and CoSIDA as one of the best student-athletes in the nation."
Deeley, who was the only Conference Carolinas men's soccer player to earn Academic All-American honors, currently boasts a 3.88 grade point average while majoring in psychology. This honor is the latest of several that Deeley has received over the past several weeks. Deeley has been named D2CCA All-American Second Team, D2CCA Southeast Region Player of the Year, Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year, NCCSIA All-State First Team, United Soccer Coaches' All-Southeast Region Second Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District Team and Academic All-Conference squad.
Deeley paced the Bobcats in goals (13), points (34), shots (82) and shots on goal (42) this season. With his career as a Bobcat wrapped up, Deeley will graduate ranking fifth in program history in points (100), goals (37), second in assists (26) and sixth in match-winning goals (8).
